In 1884 Bairei published a flower-bird picture book entitled Bairei Hyakuchō Gafu Zokuhen (i.e., Picture Album of One Hundred Birds by Bairei Sequel). This sequel was similar to its 1881 predecessor in title (i.e., Bairei Hyakuchō Gafu), number of volumes (i.e., three) and picture style (i.e., shapes of birds and flowers drawn accurately but colored only in shades of gray with reddish highlights). The bird species depicted were different. In the 1884 book Bairei chose birds which were less common in Japan than most of the bird species included in the 1881 book. The thirty pictures included in the first volume of the 1884 book are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. To see the pictures in all three volumes click here.
